FRIENDS OF THE CROWN

fotcIn 2011 the Crown Inn was closed and put up for sale by the then owners, Punch Taverns. Dilwyn Parish Council, with the approval of an overwhelming majority of parishioners, purchased the Crown Inn on behalf of the parish to ensure the continuity of such an important community asset.

However, the Crown is run as a day to day business by council appointed tennants.

'Friends of the Crown' is a totally independent group of villagers that aims to raise funds to bring about improvements at our village pub, over and above those that would be provided formally and necessarily by the Parish Council.

Since its inception the 'Friends' have raised a considerable amount by running quizzes, concerts and coffee mornings. A fairly recent example of their work is the nearly £2000 donated to the Parish Council to enable renovation work on the chimney to be completed to a higher standard than would otherwise have been possible ( the type of liner used).
