St Mary - Area Contacts

The Parochial Church Council has set up a Scheme across the parish to improve communication between the Church and the community, and to maybe provide a support network. The village has been divided up into about 15 areas, and within each area there is an Area Contact person. If there is any information or a matter that you feel the church should be aware of, or might be able to help with, please do let the Area Contact know. The Contact will then pass on the information to an appropriate person. The Area Contacts are :

The 1867 restoration included:
  • The opening out of the chancel and aisle roofs
  • The restoration of the nave roof
  • The cleansing the walls and stonework from plaster and whitewash
  • The lowering of the nave floor
  • New open benches modeled on the old ones
  • New pulpit, lectern, alter screen, altar-table, font-cover and chancel stalls
  • The opening of arch between chancel and vestry for the reception of an organ
  • Flooring church with Godwin's encaustic tiles
  • The restoration of screens, with the addition of new fans, cornice, and cresting to the central one
  • A warming apparatus
  • The east window was fitted with painted glass by Messrs. Heaton, Butler, & Bayne as a memorial to the late Rev. J Powell.
